The 5th Sikh guru, Guru Arjan assembled its first version at Amritsar in 1604 CE. Along with his own hymns, the hymns of all his antecedent were added by him in the Granth Sahib. In 1704 CE Guru Gobind Singh added his own hymns as well as his predecessors and said that the Granth Sahib replace the Guru.
