Harshavardhan belonged to the Pushyabhuti Dynasty which is also known as the Vardhana. He was the second son of Prabhakaravardhan and was crowned at the age of just 16. He had kept Kannauj as his capital. He was a great administrator and a lover of music, literature and religion. He was known for his kindness. Only 1/4th of his revenue went towards administration, the rest went to charaties and rewards.
