(i) The above picture is of Black Blizzard. It refers to the violent terrifying dust storms that began blowing over the southern plains of America during 1930s. (ii) The expansion of wheat agriculture led to terrifying dust storms in the 1930s. In the early 19th century, zealous farmers had recklessly uprooted all vegetation, and tractors had turned the soil over and broken the sod into dust. As a result the whole region of the Great Plains had become a dust bowl.
