(i) What is the area of the square whose perimeter is 20 cm?

(ii) What is the cost of putting a wire around a rectangle shaped box of length 50 cm and breadth 30 cm, given that 1 cm of wire costs ₹20?

(i) Side of the square = 20÷ 4 = 5 cm

Area of the square =52=25 cm2

(ii)

Given, Length of rectangular box = 50 cm
Breadth of rectangular box = 30 cm

For putting a wire around a rectangle shaped box we need to know the perimeter of the rectangular box.

Perimeter of rectangular box
= 2 (length + breadth)
=2 (50 + 30)
= 2 (80) = 160 cm

1 cm of wire costs ₹ 20.
Cost for 160 cm of wire
=160×20
= ₹3200
