Question

(i) What is the HCF of two co-prime numbers?
(ii) Give an example of a pair of co-prime numbers, in which both numbers are composite.

Solution

(i) Two natural numbers are co-primes if they do not have a common factor other than 1.
So the HCF of two co-prime numbers is 1.
Ex. 4 and 7 are co-prime numbers.

(ii) 8 and 15 both numbers are composite numbers.
8=2×2×2
15=3×5
So we can see that they don’t have a common factor other than 1.
So 8 and 15 both are composite numbers and co-prime numbers also.
