As we know that molecular formula of alkane is- $C_{n} H_{2 n + 2}$
For propane, $n = 3$ .
$∴$ Molecular formula of propane is $C_{3} H_{8}$ .
$C H_{3} - C H_{2} - B r$
As the given compound contains a parent chain of $2$ carbon atoms with bromine atom at $C - 1$ position. Hence the IUPAC name of the given compound is $1$ -bromoethane or bromoethane.
