• It is a gaseous product of petroleum.

ii) Use of CNG preferred over petrol and diesel because:

• CNG is the cleanest fossil fuel.
• It consists of methane (${\mathrm{CH}}_4$) and when it burns it produces Carbon dioxide (${\mathrm{CO}}_2$) and water vapour$\left({\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O}\right)$.
• Along with${\mathrm{CO}}_2$, it releases other pollutants in less extant and does not affect the environment much.

Therefore CNG is preferred over petrol and diesel.
