Solution

The correct option is A 4
The volume of the unit cell, V=a2bsin60o
V=(4.53×108)2×7.41×108×0.866 (1˚A=108cm)
V=1.317×1022cm3
The density is 0.92g/cm3
The mass of the unit cell is 0.92g/cm3×1.317×1022cm3=1.21×1022g....(1)
The mass of 1 mole of water molecules is 18 g.

1 mole of water molecules =6.023×1023 molecules.

The mass of 1 water molecule =186.023×1023=2.98×1023 g ......(2)
Divide equation (1) with equation (2).
1.21×1022g2.98×1023=4
Thus, four water molecules are contained in a unit cell.
