Solution

Yes, ideas of liberty and democratic rights remain the most important legacy of the French Revolution. The Revolution was against the despotic rule of the French King and the aristocracy. Before the Revolution, the common people in France had very little say in government. People were not free in pre-revolutionary France. Instead, there were bonded to some aristocrat under the existing feudal system. The Revolution overthrew both aristocracy and despotism. It granted freedom and political rights to the people of France. From France, these ideas spread throughout the world.
