Identify A, B & C in the given figure showing anaerobic respiration.
During anaerobic respiration, the product of glycolysis- pyruvic acid will undergo either alcohol fermentation or lactic acid fermentation. In alcohol fermentation first pyruvate is decarboxylated. Here, in the first step CO2 is released and pyruvic acid is reduced to acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde is then reduced further to alcohol and in this process, the NADH2 formed during glycolysis is used up and the oxidised NAD+ is regenerated. In lactic acid fermentation pyruvic acid is reduced to lactic acid by using NADH2 and NAD+ is regenerated.
