Here, A is Photosynthesis, B is Combustion and C is Respiration
Photosynthesis:
- In the oxygen cycle, oxygen is released into the atmosphere by photosynthesis.
- The process of fixing atmospheric carbon by trapping the sun's energy in the biological form in the presence of chlorophyll is called photosynthesis.
- In this process, the light energy is converted to chemical energy.
- In photosynthesis, the carbon dioxide along with water is converted to carbohydrate molecule, Glucose, with the release of oxygen in the atmosphere in the presence of chlorophyll and sunlight.
Respiration:
- In the oxygen cycle, the utilization of oxygen occurs through respiration.
- It is a process of intake of oxygen and release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
- The oxygen respired by living organisms is used for the oxidation of glucose and other substrates.
- The oxidation of glucose releases carbon dioxide, energy, and water.
Combustion:
- The process of burning organic fuels in the presence of oxygen to obtain energy is called combustion.
