Solution
The correct option is B A. Acetabulum, B. Flame cells, C. Female, D. Gynecophoric canal, E. Male Fasciola hepatica also known as Liver fluke is an endoparasite of sheep. The external morphology shows the presence of oral sucker at the anterior end of the mouth and ventral sucker or the Acetabulum. While there is an excretory pore towards the posterior end, the excretion is carried on by flame cells which are distributed in the mesenchyme. Each flame cell is irregular in shape and covered by a thin wall and has branches which look like pseudopodia. The Blood Fluke or Schislosoma heamatobium are parasitic flatworms that cause Schistosomiasis in human beings. While the organism shows sexual dimorphism, the body of the male rolls ventrally to form a groove called “gynecophoric canal” where the female enters during the process of copulation. The labelled diagram of blood fluke is one such showing the male, female and the gynecophoric canal.
