Question

identify following reaction as : displacement/ double displacement/ combination/ decomposition reaction. CaO + H2O gives Ca(OH)2 + heat . Zn + H2SO4 gives ZnSO4 + H2 . 2AgBr gives 2Ag + Br2 . pb(NO3)2 +2Kl gives pbl2 + 2KNO3 .

Solution

Dear student

1.CaO + H2O Ca(OH)2 + Heat
This is a combination reaction , as here two reactants combine to form a product.

2. Zn + H2SO4 ZnSO4 + H2
This is a displacement reaction, as here Zn replaces Hydrogen from sulphuric acid and forms Zinc sulphate, along with release of hydrogen.

3.
2AgBr 2Ag + Br2
This is a decomposition reaction as AgBr decomposes to Ag and Br2 in the reaction

4.
Pb(NO3)2 +2Kl PbI2 + 2KNO3

This is a double displacement reaction, as here Pb displaces, I from KI and forms PbI2 and KNO3 is formed by displacing Nitrate form the lead compound.
