Solution

Nitrate ion, NO3-

Suppose the compound may be Sodium nitrate(NaNO3)

When sodium nitrate reacts with sulphuric acid it forms sodium bisulphate and nitric acid.

NaNO3 (aq) + H2SO4(aq) ⇢ NaHSO4 (aq) + HNO3(aq)

Then Copper reacts with this nitric acid forming copper nitrate and nitrogen dioxide(reddish-brown gas) and water.

Cu (s) + 4HNO3(aq) ⇢ Cu(NO3)2 (aq) + 2NO2(g) + 2H2O(aq)
