In the given image of the ovary the below mentioned parts are labelled:
a. Blood vessel - It supplies blood and nourishments to the ovary.
b. Primary follicle - It is the follicle with two layers of granulosa cells.
c. Tertiary follicle - Secondary follicle changes into tertiary follicle, which is characterized by a fluid filled space called antrum.
d. Graffian follicle - Mature ovarian follicles are called the Graffian follicle which ruptures and releases the secondary oocyte.
e. Ovum - Secondary oocyte arrested at the metaphase II of meiosis II is released by the rupturing of the Graaffian follicle from the ovary into the fallopian tube.
f. Corpus luteum - After ovulation, the granulosa cells and the interstitial cells of the Graffian follicle form a mass of large and yellowish conical cells called the corpus luteum. It secretes large amounts of progesterone to maintain the thickness of the endometrium.
