Ethyl benzene is more reactive than benzene due to presence of electron releasing ethyl group which increases the electron density on benzene ring. o dichloro benzene and o dinitro benzene are less reactive than benzene as electron withdrawing chloro and nitro groups decrease the electron density on the benzene ring and deactivate the ring towards electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Nitro group is more electron withdrawing than chlorogroup. Hence, o dinitrobenzene is less reactive than o dichloro benzene.
