Solution

The correct option is B (i) and (iv)
A.True - In dicot root, pericycle is parenchymatous both in young as well as mature states, but in monocot roots, pericycle is parenchymatous in young state, sclerenchymatous in mature state.
B.False - In dicot root, pericycle produces lateral roots primary growth and vascular cambium during secondary growth, but in monocot root, pericycle produces only lateral roots during primary growth.
C.False - In endodermis of dicot root, some of the cells does not contain casparian bands, are called Passage cells. These are present opposite to the protoxylem cells.
D.True - in angiosperm roots, development of xylem occurs from periphery to centre, in this protoxylem is present towards the pericycle and metaxylem is present towards the medulla.
So, the correct option is '(i) and (ii)'.
