Solution
The correct option is C III → V → I → II → IV → VI
Bacteriophage replication is a six-step process. The first step in lytic cycle is adsorption where the bacteriophage attaches to the bacterial cell wall by its tail. Then the bacteriophage contains an enzyme called
lysozyme which digest the cell wall of bacterium and injects the DNA into bacterium and this step is called as penetration. The next step is eclipse where no progeny virions are created. Then by using bacteria machinery synthesis of proteins and DNA occurs in the maturation phase. Then assembly of subunits into virions occurs which is followed by cell lysis.
So, the correct answer is 'III → V → I → II → IV → VI'.
