Cellular respiration, whether aerobic or anaerobic, is a metabolic process which converts nutrient into energy (stored in the form of ATP) and waste products. ​ Aerobic respiration uses the oxygen gathered during the process of respiration to facilitate ATP synthesis. ​
It always takes place in the presence of oxygen. Whereas, anaerobic respiration occurs in absence/lack of oxygen. In anerobic respiration yeast produces ethanol as end product whereas in muscles lactic acid is produced as end product.​
