Solution

The correct option is D

A typical anther is tetragonal and tetrasporangiate.

An anther is not always bilobed and dithecous. Some flowers may have monothecous anthers which have a single lobe/theca or polythecous anthers containing many lobes. A typical anther as seen in a transverse section is tetragonal and bilobed with each lobe containing two microsporangia. Therefore, it is tetrasporangiate. The two lobes of an anther is seen clearly in a longitudinal section of an anther.
