Heat energy
Ice (solid state) absorbs heat energy and converts to water (liquid state) and further heat energy is absorbed to convert into steam (gaseous state). On releasing the heat energy, steam is again converted to water and further to ice. So, the interconversion of physical states, Solid → Liquid → Gas takes place by absorption of heat and Gas→ Liquid → Solid takes place by the release of heat.
