Identify the following phases 1, 2, 3, & 4. in a eukaryotic cell cycle.
G1 S G2 M
A eukaryotic cell cycle is divided into M-phase, G1, S and G2 phases. The M phase is further divided into prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. G1, S and G2 phases are together called as the Interphase.
G1 phase: Growth and normal metabolic role, S phase: Synthesis and replication of DNA, G2 phase: Growth and preparation for mitosis and finally, M phase: Splitting of the genetic content of the parent cell followed by cytokinesis.
