Identify the following phases 1, 2, 3, & 4 in a eukaryotic cell cycle.
G1, S, G2, M
A eukaryotic cell cycle is called the mitotic or M-phase. This phase includes mitosis, and the remaining phases of the cycle, i.e., the phase between two mitosis, is termed as the interphase. Interphase can further be divided into three parts:
G1 phase: Growth and normal metabolic role, S phase: Synthesis and replication of DNA, G2phase: Growth and preparation for mitosis and finally, M phase: Splitting of the genetic content of the parent cell as well cytokinesis, which is mitosis.
