Identify the functions of medulla oblongata:
Vomiting, peristalsis, swallowing and respiration
Medulla oblongata is a rod-shaped structure seen below the cerebrum and located near the cerebellum. The functions of medulla oblongata are mainly involuntary actions such as vomiting, peristalsis, blood pressure, swallowing and respiration.
Actions like walking, writing, cycling, swimming and drinking are all voluntary actions and they are controlled by different centres present in the cerebrum.
