Solution

The correct option is C Dense connective tissue- Adipose tissue
Compound epithelium is made of multi-layered cells. It helps in protecting cells from mechanical & chemical stresses. It is present in buccal cavity, pharynx (cavity present behind the tongue), salivary ducts (glands that produce saliva) etc.

Loose connective tissue is made up of loosely arranged cells in a semi-fluid matrix. They are usually located beneath the skin. They are of 2 types-
1. Areolar tissue: It is made of mast cells, macrophages & fibroblasts. It helps support epithelial cells.

2. Adipose tissue: It is made of cells that are specialised to store fats.

Dense connective tissue: The cells of the dense connective tissues and the fibres produced are arranged in a compact manner. Tendons, ligaments are types of dense regular connective tissue.

Specialised connective tissue: These tissues have specialised functions and are of following 3 types:
1. Bone: These are rich in calcium & collagen fibres. They form structural framework of the body.
2. Blood and lymph: These are fluid connective tissues
3. Cartilage: These tissues are made of chondrocytes. It helps resists compression.
