The swan-necked flask experiment was performed by Louis Pasteur by which he disproved the theory of spontaneous generation of life. He proved that life did not originate simply from inorganic materials. It came from pre-existing life forms which were seen in a sterilized media exposed to air.

Saurez supported the theory of special creation which states that life originated by the grace of a supernatural power. Cosmozoic theory was proposed by Ritcher which stated that life had come to earth in the form of spores from far off space, travelling on meteors which impacted the Earth.
