The diagram given below shows haplo-diplontic life cycle.

In the haplo-diplontic life cycle, the diploid sporophyte and haploid gametophyte exhibit an alternating condition. The diploid sporophyte (A) cells undergo meiosis (B) to produce haploid spores. The spores germinate to form haploid gametophyte. The gametophyte produces gametes through gametogenesis (C). The gametes fuse together (syngamy) and form zygote (D). The zygote gives rise to the diploid sporophyte as shown in the above figure.
