Identify the lines of symmetry for the rectangle PQRS.
The line passing through MO.
The line passing through TN.
A figure is said to have a line of symmetry or linear symmetry if there exists a line which divides the figure into two identical halves such that they coincide when folded along this line.
The line of symmetry can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal. Rectangle has 2 lines of symmetry as shown in the figure. They overlap exactly when folded across these lines. Other lines passing through PR and QS are not lines of symmetry. This is because if folded along this line the two halves do not coincide perfectly.
