Identify the parts labelled in the given transverse section of anther.
(i) -Tapetum, (ii) - Middle layers, (iii) - Endothecium, (iv) - Epidermis
The centrifugal (from centre to periphery) arrangement of different layers of anther wall is (i) tapetum, the tissue which gives nutrition to the developing sporogenous tissue; (ii) 4-5 layered middle layers; (iii) single layered endothecium with hygroscopic fibrils which help in dehiscence of the anther to release pollen and finally, (iv) the outer protective epidermis.
