Solution

Poly atomic molecules - Ozone (O3), Phosphorous(P4), Sulphur (S8) .

Definition of poly atomic elements.

If a molecule of an elements contain more than two atoms is called polyatomic molecules.

Definition of atomicity

The number of atoms present in the molecule is called its atomicity.

Based on atomicity, the elements are classified into 3

  1. Monoatomic elements.
  2. Diatomic elements
  3. Poly atomic elements.

Monoatomic elements- If only one atom is present in the molecule of an element, it is called monatomic elements.

For example, Helium- He, Silver- Ag etc

Diatomic elements- If two atoms are present in the molecule of an element is called diatomic elements.

For example, Hydrogen - H2 , Chlorine- Cl2, Iodine- I2
