Identify the problem(s) faced by the farmers of our country.
Drought
Low yielding crop
Pests
Cost of production
Most Indian farmers are greatly dependent on monsoon rains for irrigation. Inadequate rain for long periods of time can result in droughts. Farmers are worst hit by drought as growing crops die due to unavailability of water. Traditional farmers do not have access to high yielding crop seeds. So, the yield is less to be profitable. Pests also damage the crops resulting in a loss to farmers.
The need for high yielding seeds, fertilizers and pesticides for good yield increase the cost of production. So, farming turns out to be less profitable and challenging for many farmers in India.
