Ketone is reacted with hydrazine in wolff kishner reduction and the reaction begins with nucleophilic attack of hydrazine upon the carboxyl carbon. The product formed in the reaction is alkene.
Ketone is treated with zinc amalgam(Zn/Hg alloy) in concentrated hydrochloric acid, it produced alkane. This reaction is known as clemmenson reduction.
