Solution

The correct option is C A - (II), B - (I), C - (IV), D - (III)
  • G2 phase is the phase of the cell cycle where the cell double-checks the duplicated chromosomes and prepares the cell for subsequent mitotic phase. During this G2 phase the energy is gathered for the production of spindle fibers required for the subsequent mitotic phase. The spindle fibers are formed from the microtubule proteins before the start of the metaphase also called the prometaphase.
  • During the anaphase, the tubulin proteins contract pulling the chromatids from the metaphase plate towards the poles.
  • In the pachytene stage, the exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes occurs through crossing over.
Thus, the correct answer is C.
