a. Soil

b. Sea water

c. Air

d. Coal

e. Soda water

Open in App
Solution

The solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances.Homogeneous mixture means that the mixture is just the same throughout we cannot distinguish one from the other. The particles of a solution cannot be seen even with the microscope and the particles of a solution pass through the filter paper.

Out of the above mixtures Sea water, Air and Soda water are solution.Hence option b, c, e are correct.

Sea water is water with many minerals dissolved in it, which are homogenous and cannot be distinguished or separated using filter paper. Air is a homogenous mixture of different gases and soda water is a liquid solution of water and carbon dioxide gas. But sand is not homogenous and consists of different particles which can be distinguished and separated by a sieve. Similar is the case of coal. It is a mixture of carbon, hydrogen and other impurities.
