In the given problem, we have to subtract 9 from 26.
In the solution, we first added 3 to 26 to make it 29 because it is easier to subtract 9 from 29 than 9 from 26. Then, we subtract 9 from 29 to get 20. As we added 3 to 26 earlier, to compensate that we subtract 3 from 20 to get, 17 as the answer. So, 26 – 9 = 17.
