Ice like crystals formed on cooling an organic acid sufficiently

Solution

Part 1: Identifying :-

  1. Pure Ethanoic acid (CH3COOH), with a melting point of 290K, forms ice-like crystals when an organic acid is cooled.
  2. Unsaturated hydrocarbons with a triple bond between two carbon atoms are known as alkynes.

Part 2: Explanation

  1. When an organic acid was sufficiently cooled, ice-like crystals formed. Ice-like crystals are created when glacial Acetic acid is sufficiently chilled.
  2. The ice-like crystals that form when an organic acid is cooled is pure ethanoic acid, which has a melting temperature of 290K and so is known as glacial acetic acid since it frequently freezes during the winter in cold areas.
  3. Glacial Acetic acid is acetic acid that has not been diluted.

Hence, Pure Ethanoic acid, with a melting point of 290K, forms ice-like crystals when an organic acid is cooled.
