Identify the valves of the heart by Position :
1.Mitral valve 2.Aortic valve 3.Tricuspid valve 4.Pulmonary valve
There are four valves, guarding the four major areas of blood pumping chambers. The Atrioventricular valves are present at the junctions between the atria and the ventricle. The one on the left is a bicuspid valve known as the Mitral valve. The one on the right has three leaflets and hence is called the tricuspid valve. The next type of valves, are those present between the ventricles and their respective arteries, and are known as semi-lunar valves. The one present between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery is called the pulmonary or semilunar valve and has three leaflets. The fourth and last valve is the aortic valve, the second semilunar valve. It also has three leaflets but is thicker than the first semilunar valve. This is present between the left ventricle and the aorta.
