Solution

The correct option is A True
  • The injured tissue cells and platelets disintegrate at the site of injury and release a substance known as thrombokinase or thromboplastin.
  • The thrombokinase acts as an enzyme which converts prothrombin (inactive) of the plasma into thrombin (active), with the help of calcium ions present in the plasma.
  • Thus, without calcium, thrombokinase will not be able to convert inactive prothrombin to active thrombin which is the major component to produce the clot.
