IE1 value of Mg is more than that of Na while its IE2 value is less. Explain?

The 2nd I-E of sodium is higher than that of magnesium because after losing an electron, sodium attains the stable noble gas configuration. On the other hand, magnesium after losing one electron still has one electron.
