Given:- 1°=0.01745 radians
To find:- tan46°=?
Solution:-
tan46°=tan45+1
=tan45°+tan1°1tan45°tan1°
=tanπ4+tan1°[1tan45°tan1°1]
Let y=f(x)=tanx
x=45°=π4
Δx=1°=0.01745 rad.
Therefore,
y=f(π4)=tanπ4=1
Let dx=Δx=1°=0.01745 rad
y=tanx
Differentiating w.r.t. x, we have
dydx=sec2x
at x=π4dydx=sec2π4=2
dy=dydx×dx=2×0.01745=0.0349 rad.[dx=Δx=0.01745]
tan46°=y+Δy=1+0.0349=1.0349
