If 100 is increased by 40% then decreased by 40% then the resulting number is ?

40 of 100 is 40.

100 is increased by 40

therefore, the result =100+40=140

Now, the result of previous calculation is decreased by 40%.

The decrease (x) can be calculated as below :-
Percentage=(DecreaseTotal)×100

Then, 40=(x140)×100

x=(40×140)100

x=56

Now, 56 is decreased from 140.
therefore , the resultant number will be (14056)=84
