therefore, the result =$100+40=140$

Now, the result of previous calculation is decreased by 40%.

The decrease (x) can be calculated as below :-

$Percentage=\left(\frac{Decrease}{Total}\right)\times 100$

Then, $40=\left(\frac{x}{140}\right)\times 100$

$x=\frac{(40\times 140)}{100}$

$x=56$

Now, $56$ is decreased from $140$.

therefore , the resultant number will be $(140-56)=84$
