If 16 grams of oxygen contain 1 mole of oxygen, calculate the mass of one atom of oxygen?

Open in App
Solution

  • We know that,
  • Mass of one mole of oxygen contains =16g
  • 1 mole of oxygen (O) contains 6.022×1023oxygen atoms
  • Therefore, mass of 6.022×1023oxygen atoms =16 g
  • Mass of 1 oxygen atom = 166.022×1023grams
  • Hence, 1 atom of Oxygen(O) molecule weighs 2.65×10-23grams.
