Question

If 24 men are able to finish a task in 40 days, then how many additional members would be required to finish the task in 16 days?

Open in App
Solution

No. of days taken by 24 men to finish a task = 40.

If the task is to be completed in 16 days, then we require more men to perform the task.

This is also an example of inverse proportion.
Let the number of men required be M

So,
24×40=M×16960=16×MM=96016M=60 men

No. of men required to complete the task in 16 days is 60.

As we are already having 24 men, the number of additional men required to perform the task is:

= 60 - 24
= 36 additional men
