Replace $x$ as $1$ in the expression:
$- 2 a x^{2} + 10 x$
$=$ $- 2 a (1)^{2} + 10 (1)$
$= - 2 a + 10$
So, the remainder is $- 2 a + 10$ . Now substitute the value of remainder, we know it is $2$ .
$- 2 a + 10 = 2$
$- 2 a = - 8$
$a = 4$
