Given that,
2x - y = 2.....(1) and x - 2y = 1......(2)

Now,
to make the coefficient of x same in both the equations,
multiply 2nd equation by 2 i.e.
$\Rightarrow$2(x -2y = 1)
$\Rightarrow$2x - 4y = 2......(3)

Now,
equation (1) - equation (3)
we get, (2x - y = 2) - (2x - 4y = 2)
$\Rightarrow$3y = 0
$\Rightarrow$y = 0

On, putting y = 0 in equation (1)
We get x = 1.
