Question

If 4/5,a,2 are three consecutive terms of AP , find the value of ' a '

Open in App
Solution

Since 4/5, a and 2 are consecutive terms,
their common difference should be equal.
a2 - a1 = a3 - a2
a - 4/5 = 2 - a
a + a = 2 + 4/5
2a = 10/5 + 4/5
2a = 14/5
a = 14/5 x 1/2
a = 14/10
a = 7/5
