From given information, $4 a^{2} b, a b^{2} a n d p$ are in continued proportion.

∴ $\frac{4 a^{2} b}{a b^{2}} = \frac{a b^{2}}{p}$ [1 Mark]

$\Rightarrow$ p = $\frac{a b^{2} \times a b^{2}}{4 a^{2} b} = \frac{b^{3}}{4}$ . [1 Mark]
