Solution

The correct option is A 1.59 M
Molarity of the solution after dilution

Initial molarity of solution (M1) = 5 M

Initial volume of solution (V1) = 500 mL

On dilution, total volume of solution increases.

Final volume of solution (V2) = 1500 mL

Final molarity of solution (M2)=× M

For dilution process, formula used is:-

M1V1 = M2V2

5×500 = x×1500

x = 5×5001500=1.66 M

Thus, when a 500 mL of 5 M solution is diluted to 1500 mL, the molarity of solution obtained is 1.66 M.
