Dividend = 53, Divisor = ‘b’, Quotient = 4, Remainder = 1.

If the remainder is 1, then ‘b’ is perfectly divisible by 52 , which is 53–1.

Divisor x Quotient = Dividend - Remainder

b x 4 = 53 - 1

4b = 52

therefore b = 52/4 = 13.
