Number of oranges = k × Cost of oranges where k is a constant.

That is, Number of orangesCost of oranges =k

Given cost of 8 oranges = ₹10.40

810.40=k(i)

Let x be the number of oranges can be bought for ₹33.80.

x33.80=k(ii)

Equating (i) and (ii)

We get 810.40=x33.80

x=33.80×810.40=26
